POSITION OVERVIEW

The Child Protection Team Leader plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of services, overseeing resources and budget management, and handling cases that are pending allocation, along with supervising small teams of practitioners. This position carries the formal authority to endorse and review case plans aimed at achieving necessary changes to guarantee the safety, stability, and development of children and young individuals, while also promoting the accomplishment of case plan objectives within designated timeframes.

The role necessitates the transportation of children, thus a valid driver's license and a willingness to travel, including to rural areas, are essential. Additional hours may be required, including evenings and early mornings, to ensure the welfare of children.

Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Aboriginal culture and demonstrate knowledge of the legislative, policy, and practice requirements pertaining to Aboriginal children, families, and communities. This includes familiarity with the Aboriginal Child Placement Principle and the various programs and initiatives that support its application in child protection practices.

Multidisciplinary Centre (MDC)

The Multidisciplinary Centre (MDC) provides a specialized response to sexual offenses and child sexual abuse from a unified location. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a dynamic team within the Wyndham MDC. The Wyndham Multidisciplinary Centre collaborates with key stakeholders to achieve and promote positive outcomes for children, young people, and families. Practitioners will work alongside specialized professionals to create interventions that prioritize the child's best interests, assist non-offending parents in understanding their child's experiences of abuse, and ultimately collaborate with families to foster long-term and sustainable change. Cooperation with various agencies is essential to achieve these outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Risk Assessment and Analysis: Authorizes plans and decisions related to risk assessment, analysis, and mitigation/intervention.

Case Planning Review and Management: Leads the planning, review, and management of their own and team members' casework.

Critical Inquiry: Oversees the planning, review, and management of issues in accordance with best practice principles and legislative requirements.
