Position Overview

The Senior Educational Leader will be an accomplished educator who takes on significant leadership and management responsibilities aligned with their compensation package. This role is pivotal in enhancing the skills, knowledge, and effectiveness of the teaching staff within a school or a network of schools, as well as refining the educational curriculum.

Typically, the Senior Educational Leader will oversee multiple staff members to drive advancements in teaching and learning. This may include providing professional support to colleagues through modeling, collaboration, and coaching, while employing strategies that foster knowledge sharing, practice improvement, and professional engagement among peers.

The individual in this role is expected to manage a substantial area or function within the educational institution with a high level of autonomy, ensuring the successful development, delivery, and assessment of the school's educational programs.

Furthermore, the Senior Educational Leader will play a crucial role in shaping policies related to teaching and learning within the institution, directly influencing the achievement of the school's objectives.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Reporting directly to the Principal leadership team.
  • Leading and coordinating the development of Student Wellbeing policies and initiatives in accordance with educational department guidelines.
  • Managing all applications related to the Program for Students with Disabilities.
  • Conducting thorough monitoring of student engagement, attendance, and wellbeing data, establishing appropriate targets and interventions aligned with the school's strategic goals.
  • Collaborating with both Senior and Middle Schools to ensure proactive and consistent approaches to student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Overseeing the Inclusive Education program, working closely with educators and the integration team.
  • Developing and supporting the Student Wellbeing team.
  • Co-managing referrals to student support services and external agencies as necessary.
  • Leading and managing meetings with parents and students alongside the Principal leadership team.
  • Assisting in the management of students with high needs or those at risk.
  • Providing short-term therapeutic support to individual students.
  • Coordinating applications for alternative educational settings.
  • Facilitating professional development for staff in areas pertinent to student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Identifying new initiatives or partnerships with community agencies that could enhance student learning and wellbeing.
  • Co-leading and managing comprehensive school-wide wellbeing intervention and prevention programs.
  • Providing leadership and guidance on matters related to student wellbeing and emergency management.

Additionally, the Senior Educational Leader will offer support during various transition phases in secondary education, such as new enrollments and transitions between year levels.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the relevant teaching authority and possess qualifications or demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum areas.
