Job Summary

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Principal Practitioner. This position requires a strong background in child protection and a proven ability to lead and manage teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Assessment and Analysis: Conduct thorough risk assessments and analyze patterns to identify areas for improvement, providing expert analysis to support and extend practitioner skills.
  • Case Planning and Review: Effectively review and analyze case management across the team, making informed decisions in context of review and appeals.
  • Critical Inquiry: Implement strategies for continuous improvement in using evidence-based frameworks across teams, programs, and practice, demonstrating broad thinking and drawing on research and literature to support evidence-informed practice.
Accountabilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide high-level expertise and offer secondary consultation and live supervision, facilitating staff mentoring and practice development, and providing leadership in the implementation of continuous improvement strategies based on clinical best practice.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including children, families, carers, and other professionals involved with clients of Child Protection.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest research, policies, and best practices in child protection, and apply this knowledge to improve practice and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Possess a strong understanding of child protection principles and practices, and a relevant degree in a related field.
  • Experience: Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in child protection, with a proven track record of leadership and management.
  • Skills: Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
