Position Overview

The Area Educational Leader is accountable to the Principal and plays a crucial role in the effective management of key educational functions within the institution.

This role encompasses the oversight of the development, delivery, and assessment of the educational programs, ensuring alignment with the school's strategic objectives and policies. The Area Educational Leader is empowered to make significant decisions regarding the program, budget, and personnel associated with their designated area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for the Area Educational Leader include:

  • Ensuring the uniform application of institutional policies and procedures within a designated Year Level Area.
  • Leading and coordinating activities within the Year Level Area.
  • Facilitating the implementation of:
    • Curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and assessment strategies.
    • School-wide positive behavior initiatives.
    • Effective behavior management processes in both classroom and outdoor settings.
  • Managing:
    • Applications for additional support services.
    • Referrals to the Student Welfare and Learning Team.
    • Connections with Student Support Services.
    • Engagement with external welfare services.
    • Oversight of extracurricular activities, including excursions and camps.
    • Mandatory reporting obligations.
    • Monitoring and promoting student attendance.
  • Providing coaching and leadership development for Professional Learning Team Leaders.
  • Implementing feedback mechanisms in line with institutional initiatives.
  • Supporting teams in planning and assessment practices.
  • Leading the analysis of academic and engagement data.
  • Conducting enrollment discussions with prospective families.
  • Offering guidance on behavior management strategies within the Year Level Area.
  • Serving as the primary contact for parents and guardians within the Year Level Area.
  • Ensuring adherence to institutional policies related to student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Promoting a cohesive approach to:
    • Aligning engagement strategies with curriculum and assessment.
    • Establishing support frameworks for behavior management.
    • Implementing programs for students with disabilities.
    • Coordinating extracurricular strategies.
    • Collaborating with Engagement Coaches.
  • Undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

Qualified candidates must hold current registration or be eligible for registration with the relevant teaching authority.
