POSITION OVERVIEW

The Child Protection Team Leader plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of services, overseeing resources and budgets, managing cases pending allocation, and leading small teams of professionals. This position holds the authority to endorse and evaluate case plans, facilitating necessary changes to guarantee the safety, stability, and development of children and young individuals while promoting the achievement of case plan goals within designated timeframes.

Collaboration with Senior Child Protection Practitioners is essential to enhance case practices, deliver effective services, and support fellow practitioners in their roles.

A valid driver's license and a willingness to travel, including to rural areas, are essential for this role, as the transportation of children is a requirement. There may be instances where overnight travel and early morning or evening work are necessary. Additional hours, including weekends, may also be required to ensure the welfare of children.

Candidates should possess a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and demonstrate knowledge of the legislative, policy, and practice frameworks relevant to Aboriginal children, families, and communities. This includes familiarity with the Aboriginal Child Placement Principle and the programs that support its implementation in child protection practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Risk Assessment and Management: Authorizes plans and decisions regarding risk assessment, analysis, and intervention strategies. Case Planning and Oversight: Leads the planning, review, and management of casework for themselves and their team members. Critical Analysis: Oversees the planning, review, and management of issues in accordance with best practice principles and legislative requirements.
