Role Overview
The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Lead - Child Protection to join our team. As a key member of our Child Protection Service, you will be responsible for leading a team of practitioners in the delivery of effective services to vulnerable children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, review, and management of case work, ensuring that all cases are thoroughly assessed and managed in accordance with best practice principles and legislative requirements.
- Authorise plans and decisions in relation to risk assessment, analysis, and mitigation/intervention, ensuring that all actions are taken to ensure the safety, stability, and development of children and young people.
- Collaborate with Senior Child Protection Practitioners to strengthen case practice, provide effective service delivery, and support other practitioners.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Aboriginal culture and the legislative, policy, and practice requirements relating to Aboriginal children, families, and communities.
Requirements
- Hold a valid driver's licence and be willing to travel, including in country regions.
- Be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and provide effective leadership and guidance to team members.
- Have a strong understanding of child protection principles and practices, including the Aboriginal Child Placement Principle.
- Be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
