POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Child Protection Specialist operates within a community-based framework, collaborating closely with The Orange Door team in the designated locality. Reporting directly to the Community-Based Team Manager, this role necessitates occasional visits to the local Child Protection office for relevant activities and meetings. Within a multidisciplinary environment, the Senior Specialist will offer guidance, support, and consultation to practitioners at The Orange Door, as well as to Family Services, Specialist Family Violence Services, and Men's Services when necessary. This role is critical in addressing significant concerns regarding the welfare of children and adolescents.

The Senior Child Protection Specialist will work in partnership with various services to facilitate timely and effective interventions for at-risk children, young individuals, and their families. This may include direct engagement with unborn children, particularly in situations where child protection intervention is anticipated post-delivery. Additionally, the role may assist the child protection program in the early identification and coordination of suitable referrals to The Orange Door and/or Integrated Family Services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Risk Assessment and Management: proficiently navigates complex cases, providing support and direction to colleagues in understanding and applying necessary frameworks. Case Planning and Oversight: leads and coordinates the planning, review, and management of individual case work. Analytical Inquiry: leverages outcomes from analytical inquiries to enhance existing knowledge and skills, guiding others in applying evidence-based frameworks to address challenges. Comprehensive Reporting: generates a variety of documentation with confidence and clarity.
