Job Description

Role Overview

The Data and Research Leader will be a highly skilled classroom practitioner who continues to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning. This role involves a range of responsibilities related to expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers, and facilitating school-based professional learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of student performance data to inform teaching practices and improve student outcomes.
  • Lead the use of research to drive educational innovation and continuous improvement within the school setting.
  • Liaise and build strong partnerships with key stakeholders to support and improve student outcomes and experiences.
  • Design and implement extended studies to track student progress over time and assess the long-term impact of educational practices.
  • Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
  • Model exemplary classroom practice, including through teaching demonstration lessons.
  • Work with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice.
  • Lead and model the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Play a key role in the provision of professional learning, including through developing processes and protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration.
  • Model effective learning practice and support teachers to seek, analyze, and act on feedback and on their practice.
  • Provide evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development.
  • Provide expert advice about the context, processes, and strategies that will shape individual and school professional learning.
  • Supervise and train one or more student teachers and mentor and/or coach teachers.
  • Model exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches.
  • Develop and promote school-wide professional learning structures, processes, and protocols through Professional Learning Communities.
  • Model exemplary professional learning practice, including through seeking feedback from other teachers and leaders on their own classroom practice as part of critical reflection and inquiry to improve practice.

Requirements

  • Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
  • Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.
  • A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided.
