Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:

  • Gain insight into the operations of a Human Resources (HR) Department.
The HR department oversees all employee-related functions, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, promotion, compensation, and termination processes.

  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the HR team while assisting HR clients, including faculty, staff, and community members.
Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information. Adhere to established policies and procedures, escalating issues to the appropriate HR personnel as necessary.

Candidate Requirements:

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at Oakton College with a minimum of 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good academic standing.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in using a computer for data entry and management.
  • Experience with various digital communication tools, including documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Required proficiency in Microsoft Office software; advanced skills preferred. Familiarity with Google Suite is also advantageous.

Selection Process:

Candidates will undergo a Word and Excel assessment conducted by the HR department.
