Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a seasoned Geologist or Hydrogeologist to join our team in the Sacramento or Oakland area. This role involves contributing to a variety of projects, including data management, site assessments, and remediation efforts. The ideal candidate will engage in the collection and analysis of geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in both field and office environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a diverse range of environmental investigation and remediation projects under various regulatory frameworks.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of technical project deliverables such as work plans and environmental assessments.
  • Conduct sampling of soil, groundwater, and vapor intrusion.
  • Contribute to project planning, design, quality control, and safety measures.
  • Engage in both fieldwork and office tasks, with occasional travel required.
  • Develop comprehensive and defensible conceptual site models for complex sites.
  • Conduct research and investigative work as necessary.
  • Organize and plan project studies effectively.
  • Resolve conflicting technical information and adapt standard procedures as needed.
  • Understand and apply relevant environmental regulations and waste management requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for meetings with clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate actively with the technical team and project managers.
  • May oversee the work of junior scientists.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Geologist Registration in California.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in business development or proposal writing.
  • Knowledge of California's environmental regulations.
  • Experience in developing conceptual site models and remediation strategies.
  • Familiarity with contaminant fate and transport evaluations.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments is advantageous.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise technical documents and reports.
  • Proficiency in statistical software and MS Office programs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% for regional job sites.

Compensation and Benefits

AECOM offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $120,000, based on individual qualifications and experience.
