Position Overview:

National Engineering Search is in search of a seasoned Senior Geologist to contribute expertise in geotechnical projects within Northern California. This position is pivotal in overseeing geologic components of projects, executing in-depth analyses, crafting detailed reports, and providing mentorship to less experienced geologists.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Project Oversight: Serve as the primary authority for evaluating geologic elements of various projects.
  2. Stability Assessments: Execute comprehensive slope stability evaluations and propose effective mitigation measures.
  3. Seismic Hazard Evaluations: Conduct thorough investigations to assess seismic risks.
  4. Ground Motion Analysis: Examine the seismic effects on structures and infrastructure.
  5. Geologic Hazard Documentation: Generate reports for educational institutions and relevant projects.
  6. Junior Geologist Development: Mentor junior geologists in achieving their Professional Geologist (PG) and Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) credentials.
  7. Regional Support: Provide expert assistance to all Northern California offices.
  8. Industry Engagement: Actively participate in professional organizations to enhance industry visibility.
  9. Business Growth: Contribute to business development efforts through technical insights.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related discipline; Master’s degree is preferred.
  2. Professional Experience: At least 10 years of experience in geological investigations and hazard assessments.
  3. Licenses: Current PG license and CEG certification are mandatory.
  4. Skill Set: Strong analytical abilities, excellent report-writing skills, leadership qualities, and effective communication.
  5. Professional Involvement: Active participation in relevant professional associations.
  6. Business Insight: Proven experience in supporting business development initiatives.
