Role Overview

As a leader in infrastructure consulting, AECOM is seeking a Geotechnical Project Specialist to enhance our Water Resources Business Line. This role will be pivotal in contributing to significant projects that directly benefit local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement surface and subsurface geological and geotechnical explorations, while managing support personnel for investigations.
  • Conduct soil boring logs, soil sampling, and geotechnical drilling, ensuring adherence to established procedures and analyses.
  • Perform geological reconnaissance and mapping to identify potential hazards and characterize sites effectively.
  • Guide the design and installation of groundwater wells and geotechnical instruments, including VWPs and inclinometers.
  • Interpret site conditions, including geological, geochemical, and geophysical data, and prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports.
  • Develop geological models for complex site conditions and manage laboratory testing programs.
  • Engage in geological research and innovate project advancements using cutting-edge technologies.
  • Facilitate communication with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients.
  • Assist in preparing high-quality project documentation, including reports and design drawings.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing 35-40 lbs and work in various outdoor conditions.
  • Proficient in navigating uneven terrains safely.
  • Demonstrated experience in off-road driving across diverse terrains.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in geology.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical projects such as dams, reservoirs, and flood protection systems.
