Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT professional to join our team as a Program Specialist VI - IT Project Manager. This is a critical role that requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Plan, develop, and implement major IT-related program projects, working closely with program managers, IT staff, and budget to ensure accurate summaries of need and appropriate actions.
  • Technical Consultation: Serve as senior technical consultant to programs, identifying issues and opportunities and facilitating appropriate action, providing highly advanced technical support to managers in the entire section.
  • IT Governance: Provide guidance to managers in the development and integration of new procedures to improve programs, advising and interpreting DIR, DSHS, and HHSC IT governance processes, policies, procedures, rules, business practices, and standards.
  • Communication: Communicate complex technical information to various stakeholders, including internal and external customers, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify problems in IT-related program operations across the section and seek solutions, working with managers, project sponsors, staff, contractors, and IT development teams to identify, define, and analyze business/system requirements.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of public administration and management techniques, program planning and implementation, computer systems and applications for data management, project management principles, and capabilities and limitations of computers and automated systems.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in IT project management, technical consultation, and IT governance, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires working in a fast-paced environment, with frequent deadlines and a high level of technical complexity. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team-approach collaborative environment and apply a critical and analytical approach to problem-solving.
