Job Summary:

The Texas General Land Office is seeking a highly skilled Program Specialist VI to join the Coastal Resources Department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the Texas Coastal Ocean Observation Network (TCOON) program. This role involves providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, or the general public. You will work under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with project partners to support the long-term TCOON partnership of State and Federal agencies.
  • Plan, prioritize, and perform technical, training, research, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities for TCOON.
  • Oversee the delivery of services, provide high-level technical assistance for the TCOON program, and create efficiencies where opportunities occur.
  • Complete and monitor required administrative and performance reports, studies, and specialized projects.
  • Ensure compliance with program policies and procedures, statutes, and rules.
  • Perform and/or oversee studies and analyses of operations and problems, and prepare reports of findings and recommendations.
  • Coordinate the collection, organization, analysis, and preparation of materials in response to requests for program information and reports.
  • Evaluate TCOON program supply needs, assist with the preparation of TCOON program budget requests, and coordinate the procurement process.
  • Evaluate potential projects, proposals, and applications related to TCOON data, programmatic needs, and platform access.

Requirements:

  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to Environmental Science, Life Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Public Administration, or Business Administration.
  • Must have six (6) years of experience in a related field.
  • The position may require up to 25% travel within the state of Texas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in public or government relations.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing construction designs and/or construction plans.
  • Demonstrated experience or working knowledge on the implementation of data collection devices used to measure and monitor coastal hydrology.
