Position Overview

The Community Outreach Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering connections and engagement within the broader recovery community, treatment providers, and various stakeholders. This position is essential for enhancing the membership of the Peer Recovery Support Center (PRSC) and ensuring active participation in community initiatives that advocate for inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations to disseminate information regarding the PRSC and the recovery community.
  • Oversee PRSC's social media channels and generate engaging content.
  • Create outreach strategies and promotional materials aimed at diverse populations.
  • Act as a representative of PRSC at community gatherings and local events.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to facilitate member and volunteer involvement in various activities.
  • Provide training for staff, volunteers, and members on effective communication and sharing of recovery narratives.
  • Handle technical aspects related to virtual meetings and manage necessary equipment.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Program Director.

Candidate Profile:

The preferred candidate will possess personal experience with recovery from substance use disorders, excellent public speaking and networking abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media tools, along with a background in addiction services and communications. Bilingual capabilities are advantageous.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Program Director.

Work Schedule: Standard hours are Monday to Friday, with flexibility required as necessary.
