About This Opportunity

As an Employment Specialist with Making Opportunity Count Inc, you will play a vital role in carrying out the services of our Supported Employment Programs. Your primary goal will be to assist clients in obtaining and maintaining employment that aligns with their vocational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with clients to facilitate competitive employment in a job setting that provides long-term, sustainable employment opportunities.
  • Community Collaboration: Collaborate with community providers to establish a steady stream of referrals and resources for employment programs.
  • Community Outreach: Present Making Opportunity Count at community workforce events, as needed, to promote our services and build relationships with potential clients and partners.
  • Vocational Assessment: Assess clients' vocational functioning on an ongoing basis, utilizing background information and work experiences to inform employment strategies.
  • Job Development and Job Search: Conduct job development and job search activities to assist clients in achieving their employment goals.
  • Follow-Along Support: Provide individualized follow-along supports to assist clients in maintaining employment and achieving long-term success.
  • Education and Support: Provide education and support to clients, as needed, to help them navigate the employment process and overcome any challenges they may face.
  • Outreach Services: Conduct outreach services, as needed, with clients who appear to be disengaging from the service.
  • Individual Employment Plans: Develop an individual employment/education plan with each active caseload to ensure that clients are receiving tailored support and guidance.
  • Community Meetings: Meet with individuals in the community, as needed, to promote our services and build relationships with potential clients and partners.
  • Program Development: Assist with the development of the SNAP Employment and Training (E&T) program to help clients achieve their employment goals.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Education and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in workforce training & development, social services, or business. Experience working with people with barriers to employment, experience providing employment services, and knowledge of the work world are preferred.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work as an effective team player and communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
