Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and patient-centric Patient Service Specialist to become part of our dynamic team. The Patient Service Specialist plays a crucial role in executing established processes and protocols.

This position involves collaborating effectively with all members of the care team to uphold the organization’s vision and mission, deliver outstanding customer service, and adhere to Lean methodologies.

You will support the team in achieving financial, clinical, and service objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gather and maintain accurate patient information, including personal details and insurance data.
  • Conduct insurance verification on the day of service.
  • Secure patient signatures on necessary documentation.
  • Organize and manage medical records efficiently.
  • Confirm and schedule patient appointments.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Complete referral documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist patients with follow-up services, including scheduling specialist visits and obtaining lab results.
  • Adhere to Optum Employee Policies as outlined by Sparq.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to meet specific team goals.
  • Stay informed on current medical regulations relevant to your role, ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and OSHA standards.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in planning and coordinating care alongside the multidisciplinary team according to the Plan of Care.
  • Ensure continuity of care through effective scheduling and tracking systems.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, as evidenced by documentation and case discussions.
  • Comply with administrative policies to maintain quality care.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and efficiency in document management and electronic charting.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED (or higher).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service or a healthcare-related field.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred:
  • At least 1 year of experience in a medical front office role, including scheduling, patient check-in/out, insurance verification, and record maintenance.
  • Ability to learn new software systems (EPIC/EMR) and adapt to training opportunities.
  • Familiarity with Epic EMR software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Soft Skills:
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
