Position Overview

We are currently seeking to fill the role of Purchasing Agent Supervisor (Purchasing Agent Program Supervisor). This pivotal position will be based at the DOC central office.

Key Responsibilities

The Purchasing Agent Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the acquisition of goods and services for the DOC. This includes managing the RFP (Request for Proposals), RFB (Requests for Bids), and waiver processes. The role also entails the development and management of contracts for various goods and services, while providing direction, leadership, training, and supervision to senior-level Contract Specialists and Procurement Specialists. Additional responsibilities include independently conducting RFBs and RFPs, particularly for complex and high-value services, and assisting the Purchasing Director in the administration of the Purchasing Services Section that supports the entire Department.

Compensation

The starting salary for this position ranges from $55,889 to $92,206 annually, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package. Salary will be determined in accordance with the Compensation Plan and applicable administrative codes. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Requirements

Applicants must possess legal authorization to work in the United States at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on candidates prior to selection to assess any potential job-related convictions. New employees will also undergo fingerprinting upon hire.

The Department may require pre-employment drug screenings. Candidates offered positions that necessitate such screenings must successfully pass as a condition of employment. Failure to comply with the drug screening will result in disqualification from further consideration.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include experience in:

  • Managing procurement processes for goods or services.
  • Administering or overseeing vendor contracts and performance.
  • Leading teams in procurement-related activities (supervisory roles, project leadership, RFB/RFP committees, etc.).

Preferred qualifications include experience in:

  • Procuring goods and services for large public organizations (500 or more employees).
  • Independently conducting requests for proposals and bids.
  • Drafting waiver requests for executive review.
  • Performing supervisory duties such as assigning tasks, directing work, and evaluating performance.
