Job Overview

Joint Research and Development, LLC is looking for a Laboratory Operations Supervisor.

The Laboratory Operations Supervisor will oversee all shifts and departments within the facility, including both Biology and Chemistry labs. This role involves managing waste disposal processes, ensuring the upkeep, calibration, certification, and repair of laboratory instruments and equipment. The Supervisor will also establish and maintain schedules for calibration, certification, maintenance, and repairs in compliance with ISO17025 standards. Responsibilities include ordering and managing laboratory supplies, consumables, and reagents, as well as making recommendations for the lifecycle replacement of essential laboratory components. Additionally, the Supervisor will handle laboratory service agreements in collaboration with Government representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage inventory for all laboratory materials, consumables, equipment, and engineering controls.
  • Generate reports on inventory levels, usage rates, projected requirements, schedules, and personnel status.
  • Coordinate the procurement of supplies and materials.
  • Oversee service agreements for preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, and certification of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure maintenance, repair, certification, and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment is performed in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements and Government policies.
  • Manage safety protocols and waste disposal processes.
  • Collaborate with Government representatives to address facility maintenance requests for the laboratory.
  • Provide recommendations for the lifecycle replacement of instruments, equipment, engineering controls, and new technology acquisitions.
  • Conduct reviews and provide recommendations for laboratory procedures.
  • Advise on laboratory research and development initiatives and emerging technologies.
  • Act as a backup for the Laboratory Quality Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a biological, chemical, or physical science related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant laboratory experience in a certified public health or environmental laboratory.
  • 2 years of experience in laboratory management, demonstrating leadership and decision-making skills.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience with complex analytical methods.
  • Strong background in laboratory safety and hazardous waste management.

Security Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability.
