Los Angeles, California, United States Project 180 Full time
Job OverviewPosition Title: Program Coordinator, PREP
Department: Project 180
Compensation: $33.65/hour

About Us
SSG-Project 180 is dedicated to transforming lives through innovative support services that empower individuals to remain in their communities rather than entering institutional settings. As a frontrunner in forensic treatment, we provide specialized programs that cater to the needs of thousands of individuals involved with the justice system. Our initiatives encompass various criminal justice touchpoints, including pre-arrest interventions, court-based diversions, jail outreach, and comprehensive post-release assistance. We collaborate closely with County agencies such as the Department of Mental Health (DMH), the Department of Health Services (DHS), and the Justice, Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD).

About the Program
The Pretrial Release Evaluation Program (PREP) is a County-operated initiative designed to facilitate the release of criminal defendants from the county jail system at the arraignment phase. This program offers in-court evaluations, connections to treatment services, dedicated housing, and case management support for participants while their legal matters are pending.

Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator is instrumental in the daily functioning of the PREP initiative. Key responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring the integrity and quality of program data.
  • Coordinating and scheduling custody releases and transportation logistics.
  • Managing housing and referral processes for participants.
  • Acting as a liaison with external partners to enhance program effectiveness.

Core Duties
Data Management and Quality Assurance
  • Conduct data entry in PREP and P180 logs and databases, collaborating with program staff for necessary corrections.
  • Oversee PREP client records, maintaining organized and accessible electronic files.
  • Prepare data for reporting by reconciling various datasets.
Enhancing Program Effectiveness
  • Coordinate custody releases and delegate tasks to Peer Navigators and Drivers.
  • Process housing referrals for participants, navigating multiple county referral systems.
  • Support the program by facilitating connections to community resources as needed.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges to ensure efficient program functioning, escalating issues to the Program Manager when necessary.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special projects as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Continuously review and improve systems for operational efficiency.
Collaboration with External Partners
  • Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including JCOD, LA County Probation, attorneys, and service providers.
  • Communicate effectively to troubleshoot daily operational issues.
  • Contribute to collaborative planning and execution of tasks with the management team.
  • Prepare and share program data with external partners as required.
General Expectations
  • Regular attendance is essential; weekend or holiday work may be necessary.
  • Adhere to the Agency's mission, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain necessary licenses and registrations as applicable.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited institution, or a minimum of 2 years of experience managing complex processes in a professional setting.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required.
  • Must not be under any legal supervision.
  • Successful completion of Employment Eligibility and Background Check.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and/or Google Sheets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Personal experience with homelessness, mental health or substance use recovery, or the criminal justice system.
  • Experience with forensic or dual-diagnosed populations.
  • Background in interdisciplinary teamwork within mental health or hospital environments.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based, requiring mobility throughout the worksite.

Physical and Mental Requirements
The role involves moving about the workplace, which may include walking, standing, and carrying items up to 20 lbs. The employee must be capable of performing complex tasks, managing interruptions, and interacting professionally in high-pressure situations.
