Job Overview

The Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the daily functions of Bread & Roses Food Services, which encompasses the Bread & Roses Training Kitchen, Catering, and Café. This position is responsible for providing operational and administrative support to ensure high-quality service and effective program execution. The Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager of the Training Kitchen and assists Food Services Program Managers with various administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support:

  • Assist the Training Kitchen Program Manager with scheduling, organizing, and executing classes, events, and guest chef appearances, including vendor recommendations and logistics coordination.
  • Oversee administrative tasks for the Bread & Roses Café, including documentation and reporting to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage catering administration, including invoicing and client communication.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and storage areas, coordinating deep cleaning as necessary.
  • Prepare and distribute routine communications and documents, such as presentations and reports.
  • Monitor inventory of food and supplies, placing timely orders while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Assist in tracking student attendance and academic records, providing support for students with incomplete assignments.
  • Coordinate catering events, ensuring all details are managed to meet high standards.
  • Maintain a roster of graduates available for catering projects.

Recruitment and Outreach:

  • Collaborate with Program Managers to identify and engage partner agencies that serve low-income populations.
  • Support recruitment efforts for vocational training, including conducting information sessions and interviews.
  • Foster relationships with local vendors for food donations and employment opportunities for students.
  • Plan community social activities and assist in vocational assessments for participants.

Training and Externships:

  • Assist in evaluating student skills and placing them in suitable externship opportunities.
  • Support the evaluation of student progress and maintain communication with externship site representatives.
  • Facilitate training sessions for students preparing for careers in food service.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and instructional material preparation.
  • Assist students in transitioning to new employment opportunities and conduct follow-ups with alumni.
Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated respect for diverse populations and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Experience in program coordination and knowledge of vocational resources is preferred.
  • Administrative experience in social services or related fields is advantageous.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field is required; relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Two years of full-time experience in education, management, or food services is necessary.

Certifications:

  • Must hold CPR, First Aid, and ServSafe Food Handler certifications.
  • A valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance are required.

Work Environment:

This position requires occasional travel between sites and may involve evening and weekend hours. The work environment is typically moderate in noise level, and reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
