Job Overview:

The Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) is seeking a dedicated, bilingual Program Coordinator to assist in the administration of the RepresentLA program, formerly known as the Los Angeles Justice Fund.

CARECEN serves as the Program Administrator for the Affirmative Services Pillar of the RepresentLA initiative.

The Program Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the management, continuity, and growth of the program. Responsibilities include screening affirmative relief referrals, overseeing the Request for Proposal process, and ensuring compliance of subgrantees with RepresentLA standards.

This position involves close collaboration with the RepresentLA team, which includes lead partners, legal service providers (LSPs), local government, and community organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the affirmative relief referral process, including pre-screening potential clients for eligibility; collecting and reviewing necessary documents; and assigning referrals to appropriate LSPs.
  • Maintain communication with LSPs to provide updates, refer cases, follow up on progress, and gather data as required by local officials.
  • Assist in preparing data and metrics reports to ensure LSP compliance with RepresentLA deliverables, including data collection and reporting.
  • Support the development, editing, and distribution of program guidance and materials for LSPs, including translation into Spanish as needed.
  • Conduct ongoing data entry and maintain internal RepresentLA data systems.
  • Oversee program management for LSPs, including onboarding, training, and providing technical assistance; coordinate LSP meetings; review invoices and documentation; and assist in site visits or audits.
  • Participate in the preparation and administration of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including selection and renewal of subgrantees.
  • Engage in community education activities and respond to media inquiries regarding relevant immigration issues as needed.
  • Perform general clerical duties for the RepresentLA program as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in immigration law, particularly with affirmative immigration remedies, is preferred.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals, including clients and representatives from various organizations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management abilities are essential.
  • Familiarity with local nonprofits and their services, or the ability to quickly learn about available resources.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to the mission and objectives of CARECEN.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office setting and may require occasional travel for meetings with local agencies and partners. A hybrid work model is offered, combining remote work and in-office responsibilities.
