Position Overview

Veterans Inc., a leading provider of essential services to Veterans and their families in New England, is on the lookout for an IT Specialist to enhance our dedicated team.

In this role, under the guidance of the IT Manager, the IT Specialist will be responsible for the upkeep and support of computer systems, workstations, peripherals, mobile devices, and more. This includes the installation, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and enhancement of both hardware and software to ensure peak system functionality. The specialist will also be tasked with resolving issues promptly and accurately while providing user training and assistance as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and troubleshooting of software applications.
  • Configuration of workstations with computers and essential peripheral devices (e.g., printers, switches).
  • Providing orientation and guidance to users on operating new software and hardware.
  • Delivering Tier I and Tier II support for desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and other computing devices.
  • Managing and troubleshooting mobile device issues (iPhones and Android).
  • Assisting with entry-level network administration tasks.
  • Facilitating the onboarding process for new employees.
  • Addressing technical inquiries via phone, email, ticketing systems, and in-person visits to the IT Department.
  • Managing Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange user accounts, including creation, modification, and termination.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of IT support experience in a Windows/Active Directory environment with 50+ users.
  • Willingness to travel between multiple office locations; reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required.
  • Technical expertise in:
    • Setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting desktop/laptop hardware and software.
    • WiFi-enabled devices.
    • Business-related desktop and web applications.
    • Strong knowledge of Windows 10 Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook 365), MS Teams, Azure MFA, and Active Directory.
    • Experience with remote support tools.
  • Preferred qualifications include:
    • Familiarity with MAC OS.
    • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) in both LAN and WAN environments.
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices (firewalls, Endpoint Detection & Response software, SPAM filtering).
    • Relevant certifications (A+, Network+, Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Support Technician) are advantageous.
  • Required soft skills:
    • Exceptional customer support and service skills, including effective communication and strong interpersonal abilities.
    • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
    • Ability to provide clear, step-by-step technical assistance to users, both verbally and in writing, in person and via remote sessions.
  • Must successfully pass all pre-hire assessments, including background checks and drug screenings.
