Position Overview

As part of the Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES) division, the Associate Director of Human Resources plays a crucial role in delivering a comprehensive range of human resource services. This includes areas such as compensation, staffing, training and development, employee relations, benefits administration, policy development, and organizational planning.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Associate Director is tasked with maintaining and enhancing effective procedures and programs that support the daily operations of the FRES Human Resources function.

The role encompasses support for the entire employee life cycle, including:

  • Talent acquisition processes (sourcing, employer branding, recruitment, onboarding, and orientation)
  • Talent management processes (compensation, performance management, employee relations, staff development, retention, and offboarding)

There will be a special emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, as well as enhancing employee engagement within HR programs and processes.

The Associate Director will ensure that HR operational performance goals are met or exceeded through diligent monitoring, analysis, and improvement of key performance indicators.

Additionally, the Associate Director will identify operational challenges within HR processes, propose solutions, and foster knowledge and utilization of HR services among staff.

Independently, the Associate Director will provide guidance to the HR team, supervisors, and employees in various functional areas of human resources and the employee life cycle.

Moreover, the Associate Director will assist in the communication and implementation of organizational HR procedures and programs, ensuring compliance with university, local, state, and federal labor laws.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree coupled with 3-5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required; 5+ years of related experience is preferred.

Candidates should possess direct human resources experience and extensive knowledge of HR policies and systems, with strong expertise in recruitment, compensation, and employee relations.

Experience in developing and delivering training on various topics is essential.


Applicants must demonstrate a high level of customer service, excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional interpersonal abilities, and an ethical mindset. Attention to detail, intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with HR software (Workday is a plus) are also required. Experience in handling confidential information and sensitive matters with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism is crucial, along with strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

A comprehensive understanding of state and federal employment laws is mandatory. Certifications such as SHRM, HRCI, or other HR-related credentials are advantageous.
