We are seeking a proficient clinician with expertise in respiratory disorders to enhance our healthcare services.

A qualified professional with a solid understanding of respiratory ailments, capable of performing assessments and therapeutic interventions with consistency. This role involves integrating assessments from various systems into patient care. The clinician will demonstrate reliable practice and documentation that aligns with departmental standards, ensuring minimal variation. Responsibilities include managing patient care and executing treatment plans in partnership with patients, their families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The clinician will actively seek and provide constructive feedback to foster clinical excellence and will serve as a mentor for new learners.

  • Evaluates respiratory care requirements, employing diagnostic assessments and therapeutic strategies with proficiency.
  • Records patient care in accordance with professional standards and departmental protocols.
  • Effectively communicates patient reactions to respiratory therapy interventions and suggests necessary adjustments to care plans.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality through: Understanding of processes, data, and outcomes; Involvement in performance improvement initiatives; Application of established procedures, protocols, and documentation.
  • Engages in professional growth through formal education, certification, ongoing learning, and participation in professional organizations. Provides guidance to new learners and students.
  • Exhibits innovative use of technologies that enhance patient care; Actively participates in the implementation of evidence-based practices and integrates new knowledge from respiratory research endorsed by the department.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Compensation Range:
$48.21 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:
Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy educational program. An Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 12 months of clinical experience in acute or critical care respiratory therapy.

License/Certification:

Possession of an active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Must be licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is mandatory. An active NBRC Specialty Credential (e.g., RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS) must be obtained within two years of employment for Medical Center Respiratory Therapists; ACLS certification is required for TCH Respiratory Therapists within three months of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires prolonged standing, frequent travel, and bending or stooping. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential; attention to detail and legible writing are necessary. The ability to lift, push, or pull is required. Exposure to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases may occur.
