Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Treatment Planning: Assess respiratory care needs, apply diagnostic testing, and develop therapeutic plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Documentation and Communication: Accurately document patient care according to professional standards and departmental guidelines, and effectively communicate patient responses to respiratory therapy interventions.
  • Quality and Safety: Embody a culture of quality and safety by participating in quality improvement initiatives, applying standard procedures and protocols, and documenting patient care according to departmental guidelines.
  • Professional Development: Embrace ongoing learning and professional development through formal education, certification, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Technology and Innovation: Demonstrate innovative application of technologies that support patient care, and actively participate in the implementation of evidence-based practices and new knowledge generated by respiratory research.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy educational program, with an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy required and a Bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years of acute/critical care respiratory therapy experience if baccalaureate prepared, or 5 years of acute/critical care respiratory therapy experience if associate prepared.
  • Licensure: Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required, and licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent travel, and bending/stooping. The successful candidate must be proficient in communicative, auditory, and visual skills, with attention to detail and the ability to write legibly. The position may involve exposure to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
