We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Respiratory Specialist who possesses advanced expertise in the assessment and management of respiratory disorders. This role demands a high level of clinical proficiency and the ability to perform consistently at an exceptional standard.
The ideal candidate will routinely integrate comprehensive system evaluations into patient care, demonstrating outstanding practice and documentation that aligns with departmental standards, ensuring minimal variation.
Utilizing a foundation grounded in evidence-based methodologies, you will manage patient care and execute treatment strategies in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Your contributions will include providing constructive feedback aimed at enhancing clinical practices and being open to diverse perspectives. You will also serve as a mentor to learners in your specialty area, exemplifying best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess respiratory care requirements and apply diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic interventions with expertise.
- Document patient care in accordance with professional standards and departmental protocols.
- Effectively communicate patient responses to respiratory therapy interventions and recommend necessary adjustments to care plans.
Commitment to Quality:
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of processes, data, and outcomes; actively participate in performance improvement initiatives; and apply standardized procedures, protocols, and documentation. Engage in professional development through formal education, certification, and participation in professional organizations. Mentor new learners and students.
Showcase innovative applications of technology that enhance patient care, and remain engaged with the implementation of evidence-based practices and the latest research endorsed by the department.
Position Compensation Range:
Competitive hourly rate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program is required. An Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy is mandatory; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in acute/critical care respiratory therapy is required for those with a bachelor’s degree, or 5 years for those with an associate degree.
Licensure: Must hold an active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and be licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is also required.
Specialty credentials (e.g., RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS) are necessary for Medical Center Respiratory Therapists, along with ACLS certification for TCH Respiratory Therapists.
Physical Demands:
This position requires prolonged standing, frequent travel, and bending/stooping. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential, along with attention to detail and the ability to write legibly. The role may involve lifting, pushing, or pulling weights, and exposure to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.
