This is an entry-level position based in our office.

The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is in search of a Financial Auditor to assist in safeguarding the financial integrity of the state by delivering impartial insights regarding its financial status and the effectiveness of state agencies.

As a Financial Auditor within the Division of State Audit, your role will involve conducting financial and compliance assessments of state departments, agencies, institutions, community colleges, and state universities in the designated area, adhering to established government auditing standards. As a member of the Comptroller's Office, you will have the chance to contribute to our mission of enhancing government operations while enjoying a balanced life outside of work, thanks to our flexible scheduling and standard 37.5-hour work weeks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing and analyzing records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for state entities.
  • Representing the Comptroller's Office professionally and communicating effectively with auditees and colleagues.
  • Creating organized, concise, logical, and well-supported working papers that align with auditing standards and best practices.
  • Conducting thorough data analyses that accurately underpin audit conclusions and findings.
  • Researching and applying relevant auditing and accounting principles.
Qualifications:
You are eligible for this role if you meet the following criteria:
  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Possession of a valid US driver’s license.
Travel Requirements:
Overnight travel within the state is necessary. The frequency of travel will depend on assignments, which are determined by business needs while considering employee preferences.

Compensation:
The Comptroller's Office provides a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes twelve days of annual leave, twelve days of sick leave, various insurance plans, a pension retirement plan, a 401(k), college fee waivers, and additional perks. Our Office values work-life balance, offering a standard 37.5-hour work week and flexible schedules, including the option to work remotely.
