Who we need...We are in search of a Vice President of Financial Operations who will oversee all facets of the organization's financial accounting and reporting functions. This role will encompass managing accounting operations and systems, preparing analyses and reports, and leading a team of accounting professionals. The Vice President will ensure that all financial transactions and policies comply with federal regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Guarantee the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure adherence to accounting regulations.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering high performance and productivity.
  • Coordinate with various departments to gather and analyze financial data.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Implement GAAP accounting policies and procedures that comply with governmental requirements.
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting systems and processes.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting.
  • Forecast cash requirements and obligations to maintain sufficient funds.
  • Conduct financial reviews of existing contracts.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing an accounting team.
  • Expertise in accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Advanced understanding of financial accounting principles, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) for government contractors, and financial statements including balance, revenue, and cash flow statements.
  • Proficiency in DCAA accounting techniques within a federal context, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills necessary for conducting accurate assessments and providing sound financial advice.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with Excel skills including financial modeling capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for creating reports and presentations.
  • Ability to analyze projects and bill rates, optimize job costing and net income, and enhance profitability at both project and company levels.
  • Experience in developing and managing a government services accounting system, preferably Unanet.

Work Environment:

  • Remote work with required hours from 8 am to 5 pm Eastern time zone.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for company-related events.
