The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is in search of a Financial Auditor to assist in safeguarding the financial integrity of Tennessee by delivering impartial insights regarding the state's financial status and the efficiency of state agencies.

As a Financial Auditor within the Division of State Audit, your responsibilities will include conducting financial and compliance audits of state departments, agencies, institutions, community colleges, and state universities in the East Tennessee region, adhering to established government auditing standards.

As part of the Comptroller's team, you will have the chance to contribute to our mission of enhancing government functionality and producing impactful audit work, all while enjoying a balanced life outside of work through our flexible scheduling and standard 37.5-hour work weeks.


Key Responsibilities:
- Analyzing and reviewing records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for state government entities.
- Representing the Comptroller's Office professionally and communicating effectively with auditees and team members.
- Creating clear, concise, logical, and well-supported working papers that align with auditing standards and best practices.
- Conducting thorough data analyses that accurately substantiate audit opinions and findings with appropriate context.
- Researching and applying relevant auditing and accounting standards.
Qualifications:
You are eligible for this position if you meet the following criteria:
- Graduate of an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Valid US driver’s license.
Travel:
Overnight travel is required within the state, with frequency dependent on assignment. Assignments are determined by business needs, but employee preferences for travel will be considered.
Compensation:

The Comptroller's Office provides a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including twelve days of annual leave, twelve days of sick leave, insurance plans, a pension retirement plan, a 401(k), college fee waivers, and more.
