Role Summary:
The Comptroller's Office is seeking a qualified individual to join our Division of Local Government Audit. This role involves performing audits across various counties in Tennessee, focusing on compliance with professional auditing standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and analyzing financial records, reports, and information systems.
  • Evaluating the fairness of financial statement presentations and the adequacy of internal controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and agreements.
  • Assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of operations within audited entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine both general and specific controls related to security management and information systems.
  • Deliver high-quality work and take ownership of assigned audit tasks.
  • Create organized, concise, and well-supported working papers that adhere to auditing standards.
  • Conduct thorough data analyses that substantiate audit findings.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders, including government officials and the public.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Professionally represent the Comptroller's Office during audits and maintain effective communication with all parties involved.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with at least 24 semester hours in accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Additional coursework in computer information systems and data analytics is advantageous.
  • While a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged for career advancement.
  • Other educational and experiential combinations may be considered equivalent.

Travel Requirements:
This position requires travel primarily within the same day, with occasional overnight stays as necessary.
