Management Solutions is in search of a Vice President of Financial Operations who will take charge of all facets of the organization's financial accounting and reporting activities. This role will oversee accounting processes and systems, prepare analyses and reports, and lead a team of accounting professionals. The VP will ensure that all financial transactions and policies comply with federal regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will monitor, supervise, and assess daily accounting functions, develop and implement accounting systems, and collaborate with other accounting team members. They will lead the creation of financial strategies and plans, work alongside analysts and consultants, gather and evaluate financial data, and communicate sales progress to executives through comprehensive documents and presentations.

The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of financial accounting principles, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) for government contractors, and financial statements including balance sheets, revenue reports, and cash flow statements, as well as the ability to model and interpret accounting data.

The Vice President of Financial Operations will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the daily functions of the accounting department
  • Managing financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Collaborating with external auditors to guarantee compliance with accounting regulations
  • Leading and managing the accounting team to ensure high performance and productivity
  • Coordinating with other departments to gather and analyze financial data
  • Providing strategic financial analysis and guidance to senior management
  • Implementing GAAP accounting policies and procedures that comply with governmental requirements
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and optimizing accounting systems and processes
  • Overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting
  • Maintaining adequate funds by forecasting cash requirements and obligations
  • Facilitating financial reviews of existing contracts
  • Overseeing accounts payable and receivable functions

Requirements...

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required; master's degree preferred
  • 6+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Experience in managing an accounting team
  • Familiarity with accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Candidates should have an advanced understanding of financial accounting principles, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) for government contractors, and financial statements including balance sheets, revenue reports, and cash flow statements, as well as the ability to model and interpret accounting reports to provide sound advice to organizational leaders.
  • Extensive knowledge of DCAA accounting techniques in a federal context, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities are essential for conducting accurate assessments and providing sound financial advice, including scenario planning and financial modeling
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, with Excel proficiency including financial modeling capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for creating reports and presentations regularly.
  • Ability to analyze projects and/or bill rates, work with proposals to optimize job costing and net income, and work at both project and company levels to enhance profitability.
  • Experience in developing and managing a government services accounting system, preferably Unanet

Location:

  • Remote work with required hours from 8 am – 5 pm Eastern time zone.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for company-related activities.
