Position Overview:

The Experienced Senior Associate role within the Accounting Advisory and Outsourcing (AAO) division at BDO focuses on delivering comprehensive support to clients in the realm of grants management. This position encompasses the oversight of both public and private funding agreements, the formulation of operational policies, and the identification of technological solutions to enhance efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial management of grants for client projects
  • Ensure adherence to funding agency regulations
  • Evaluate discrepancies between budgeted and actual expenditures
  • Prepare accounting entries and manage salary distributions
  • Support audits related to government contracts
  • Maintain accurate records of contracts and grant communications
  • Mentor junior team members and coordinate project deliverables
  • Understand and implement internal controls for grant funding
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed

Required Qualifications:

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in financial management within the nonprofit sector
  • Familiarity with cost allocation practices

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience with Intacct (Sage) software

Additional Skills and Competencies

  • In-depth understanding of government grant regulations
  • Knowledge of contracts and grants administration systems
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Capability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Willingness to travel as required
