Senior Grant Accountant

Overview:

The Senior Grant Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records associated with assigned grants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and conducts monthly financial reviews to effectively manage grant-related financial activities, ensuring compliance with funder and agency regulations.
  • Prepares detailed budget analyses and forecasts for cost-based grants, collaborating with program teams to meet performance objectives for grants based on outcomes.
  • Responsible for generating and reviewing financial reports for submission to funding entities.
  • Develops budget proposals, modifications, and renewal budgets as required.
  • Establishes and manages audit schedules, coordinating with funders for audits and preparing corrective action plans as necessary.
  • Maintains comprehensive and accurate grant documentation, ensuring that the financial system reflects the most current information.
  • Processes requests for advances on new contracts and follows up on outstanding payments.
  • Reconciles receivables and income generated from both public and private sources.
  • Handles salary and other transaction allocation adjustments.
  • Trains program staff on proper expenditure coding and ensures accurate expense categorization.
  • Ensures timely reconciliation and closure of grants.
  • Prepares cash flow projections related to service income.
  • Conducts cost analysis and projections for fundraising initiatives.
  • Responsible for the timely transfer of expenditures across funds, including cost allocations and other necessary schedules.
  • Participates in training sessions to stay updated on changes in funder requirements.
  • Assists in the onboarding and training of new accounting staff.
  • Provides support to the Accounting Manager/Senior Director and serves as backup for team accountants.
  • Engages in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of one to three years of accounting experience is required.
  • At least one year of grant-related experience is preferred.
  • Three years of accounting experience, ideally in a nonprofit setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline is required.
Knowledge and Skills:

Essential:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word is necessary.
  • The ability to operate under tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks is critical.

Compensation: $62,750.00 annually
Work Schedule: 35 hours per week
