Position Overview

The Homelessness Prevention Administration (HPA) is committed to supporting New Yorkers in achieving stable housing. In partnership with various organizations and City agencies, HPA provides assistance to individuals and families seeking affordable housing solutions.

As a Senior Housing Assistance Specialist at HPA, your primary role will involve facilitating the processing of emergency rent arrears and FHEPS housing subsidy grants. Reporting directly to the Administrative Job Opportunity Specialist NM-I, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient processing of grants and approvals.

  • Oversee and manage case assignments to guarantee timely completion and provide final approval on grants following thorough evaluations.
  • Address inquiries from diverse sources regarding the status of grants and ensure that all necessary information is updated promptly.
  • Conduct detailed reviews to finalize stop payment requests, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Track case progress diligently and collaborate with team members to identify and rectify any deficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma accompanied by three years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree with at least eighteen months of experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in social or human services, or related fields.
  • Opportunities available for individuals eligible for the 55-a Program.
