Position Overview

The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) is in search of a seasoned professional to oversee and coordinate live educational offerings at various conferences and events. The Director of Education will manage all facets of live educational programs, encompassing budgeting, content development, speaker engagement, production, logistics, and the attainment of revenue and attendance objectives. A proven track record in leading and developing live educational initiatives is essential for success in this role.

Organizational Background

HIDA serves as the trade association for medical products distributors and their partners, delivering vital medical supplies to hospitals, nursing homes, laboratories, home care facilities, and physician practices across the nation. HIDA is a prominent advocate on critical issues affecting the healthcare distribution sector and the broader healthcare supply chain.

Work Environment

HIDA operates with a flexible schedule, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work. This role will necessitate travel several times throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

Live and Virtual Educational Events:

  • Conduct market research to pinpoint educational opportunities for conferences and events.
  • Design and implement comprehensive educational programs.
  • Establish clear objectives for educational initiatives.
  • Engage with members to assess their educational needs.
  • Coordinate pre-event logistics and communications.
  • Oversee events to ensure they meet their intended objectives, such as facilitating knowledge exchange and networking.
  • Perform post-event evaluations to assess success and inform future programming.
  • Facilitate Q&A sessions and panel discussions during virtual events.
  • Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Manage multiple key conferences each year.

General Duties:

  • Develop and oversee budgets for programs and events.
  • Ensure programs are engaging, relevant, and continuously improved based on feedback.
  • Create and manage timelines for successful program execution.
  • Collaborate with marketing and membership teams to achieve attendance and revenue targets.
  • Coordinate logistical aspects of events with the meetings department.
  • Oversee registration processes to ensure smooth execution.
  • Ensure all programs meet financial and operational benchmarks.

Additional Responsibilities:

Other duties may include managing committees or councils and contributing to HIDA's Emerging Leaders program and other initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in adult education, particularly in live event production and speaker recruitment.
  • Familiarity with healthcare and distribution issues or a willingness to learn quickly.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation capabilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience in an association environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with database management software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and leader.
