Position Overview

The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) is in search of a seasoned professional to oversee and coordinate live educational initiatives at various conferences and events. The Director of Education will be accountable for all facets of live educational programming, which includes budgeting, content development, speaker engagement, production, logistics, and meeting revenue and attendance targets. A proven track record in leading and developing live educational programs is essential for success in this role.

Organizational Background

HIDA serves as the trade association for medical products distributors and their partners, ensuring the delivery of vital medical supplies to healthcare facilities across the nation. HIDA stands as a prominent advocate on issues critical to the healthcare distribution sector and the broader healthcare supply chain.

Work Environment

The association operates on a flexible schedule, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work. This role will require occasional travel throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

Live Events Management:

  • Research and identify educational opportunities for conferences and events.
  • Design and establish program frameworks that align with organizational goals.
  • Engage with members to ascertain educational needs.
  • Coordinate logistics and communication prior to events.
  • Oversee events to ensure objectives are met, facilitating knowledge exchange and networking.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to assess success and recommend improvements.
  • Manage Q&A sessions and panel discussions during virtual events.
  • Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Administer six or more major conferences annually.

General Duties:

  • Develop and manage budgets for educational programs and events.
  • Ensure programs are engaging, relevant, and continuously improved based on feedback.
  • Create and manage timelines for successful program execution.
  • Collaborate with marketing and membership teams to achieve attendance and revenue objectives.
  • Coordinate with the meetings department to manage logistical aspects of events.
  • Oversee registration processes to ensure seamless execution.
  • Ensure all programs meet financial and operational benchmarks.

Additional Responsibilities:

Other responsibilities may include managing committees, collaborating with HIDA's Emerging Leaders program, and engaging in various initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in adult education, particularly in live event production and speaker recruitment.
  • Familiarity with healthcare and distribution issues, or a willingness to learn.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a strong focus on organization and detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience in an association environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with database management software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and leader.
