Role Summary

As the Head of Engineering for our E-Commerce Solutions team, you will be responsible for assembling and guiding a skilled group of engineers and technical experts dedicated to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of our e-commerce technology infrastructure. Your extensive expertise in software, applications, and product management will be crucial in steering multiple intricate projects and initiatives, while you serve as a key decision-maker and catalyst for innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide vision and leadership to the engineering team, promoting a culture of teamwork, creativity, and accountability.
  • Team Building: Attract, onboard, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing team of engineers and technical specialists.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete product development lifecycle, from concept and requirements gathering to implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • System Architecture: Establish and execute robust, scalable, and maintainable architectural designs for our e-commerce platform, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
  • Technology Assessment: Assess and select suitable technologies, frameworks, and tools to facilitate the growth and evolution of our e-commerce platform.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with marketing, product, creative, design, quality assurance, and other teams to align engineering initiatives with business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Agile Methodologies: Implement and refine agile development practices to enable rapid, iterative delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Performance Evaluation: Set metrics, KPIs, and monitoring tools to assess system performance, identify inefficiencies, and drive ongoing improvements.
  • Risk Mitigation: Recognize potential risks and challenges, develop strategies to address them, and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Vendor Relations: Manage partnerships with external vendors, contractors, and collaborators involved in the development and support of the e-commerce platform.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced degrees are preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience and over 8 years in application engineering, ideally within the e-commerce sector.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Commerce tools, BigCommerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud is advantageous.
  • Strong technical skills in web development languages and knowledge of platforms like CMS, DAM, Search/Merch, and AB testing frameworks.
  • Experience with ReactJS, Typescript, and NodeJS applications is a plus.
  • Proficiency in integrating with backend systems, including Identity, ERP, Data Warehouse, and CDP.
  • Comprehensive understanding of e-commerce trends, UX/UI principles, product performance, and digital marketing strategies.
  • Expertise in Consumer Insights & Analytics, including site instrumentation, tagging, personalization, and customer engagement processes.
  • Experience in making platform decisions regarding build vs. buy, focusing on scalability and maintainability.
  • Demonstrated success in leading technology-driven projects and facilitating transformative change.
  • Ability to think strategically, prioritize effectively, and make data-informed decisions to ensure product success.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a talent for collaborating across departments and influencing stakeholders.
  • Experience in vendor management, contract negotiations, and budget oversight.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs and technological advancements.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban, and product management tools like Jira.
  • A passion for innovation and continuous learning, with a proactive approach to new challenges.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $190,000-$210,000/year
