Position Overview

Job Title: Energy Engineer

Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week, Monday - Friday)

Work Arrangement: Remote

Compensation: $70,000-$75,000/year

Verdani Partners is in search of a dedicated Energy Engineer to enhance our expanding technical services division. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with exceptional skills in data evaluation, effective communication, and time management. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with members of the corporate sustainability team to formulate and execute environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies and initiatives aimed at supporting global commercial real estate clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ENERGY STAR benchmarking and analyze environmental performance data (energy, water, greenhouse gas emissions, waste).
  • Assist in the preparation of various sustainability reports.
  • Perform energy audits (ASHRAE Level I & II), obtain ENERGY STAR labels, assess indoor air quality (IAQ), and facilitate green building certifications (LEED, Fitwel, WELL, etc.).
  • Site visits may be required in the future, necessitating the ability to travel when conditions permit.
  • Engage directly with clients, necessitating superior communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Generate high-quality reports, including graphs, tables, and presentations for client delivery.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related fields.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Field, or related disciplines.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED Accredited Professional – EBOM.
  • Certified Energy Manager or Certified Energy Auditor credentials.

Skills & Experience:

Required:

  • Strong commitment to sustainability and green building practices.
  • Self-motivated with a robust work ethic and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Detail-oriented approach.

Preferred:

  • Experience with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting initiatives such as GRESB, CDP, UNPRI, etc.
  • Knowledge of green building certifications including LEED, Fitwel, WELL, IREM.
  • Experience conducting energy audits (ASHRAE Level I, II, III).

Language Proficiency:

Fluency in English with exceptional written and communication skills.
