Fox Run is a picturesque 108-acre continuing care retirement community. We are part of a growing network of communities developed and managed by Erickson Senior Living, a national provider of senior living and health care.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience up to $15 hourly.

Schedule: This position is Sunday through Thursday with hours from 10:30 AM to 7 PM.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Activities Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, and emotional well-being of residents in Continuing Care. Collaborating with the Programming team, the assistant will assess residents' needs and interests to provide meaningful engagement through therapeutic and recreational activities.

The Continuing Care team is dedicated to supporting residents in all aspects of their daily lives. We focus on building relationships with residents and their families, utilizing a consistent caregiver approach to prioritize their physical, spiritual, emotional, and clinical needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Utilize independent judgment to facilitate structured and spontaneous programs for individuals and groups in various settings.
  2. Ensure the safety of residents during group outings and excursions.
  3. Collaborate with team members, management, community groups, volunteers, and families to deliver engaging programs and activities.
  4. Monitor changes in residents' needs and preferences to tailor programs accordingly, communicating any significant changes to the Programming Manager.
  5. Assist in maintaining supply levels for activities and ensure the safe operation of equipment.
  6. Participate in discussions regarding resident programming, schedules, and special events.
  7. Prepare and lead various activity programs as per the guidance of the Program Manager.
  8. Set up and manage activity equipment and motivate participants during activities.
  9. Maintain a flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings as required.
  10. Uphold the philosophy and vision of Erickson Senior Living.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • Understanding of the dementia process (training will be provided if necessary).
  • Strong judgment, independence, organization, flexibility, and reliability.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional customer service and creativity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience as an Activities Assistant in a licensed health care facility or related experience is preferred.
  • Experience leading groups with varying levels of independence is advantageous.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English is essential.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, transport residents in wheelchairs, and perform various physical activities, including walking long distances and managing equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Activities will take place in diverse settings, including residents' private rooms, common areas, and outdoor venues. Employees may be exposed to seasonal weather changes and will interact frequently with residents, families, and visitors.

DECISION-MAKING:

Communicate supply needs to the Programming Manager and follow resident schedules while accommodating preferences.
