Key Responsibilities:

POSITION OVERVIEW

The After School Program Facilitator will work closely with the leadership team of the afterschool initiative and play a vital role in the effectiveness of the JCC Association's afterschool offerings. This individual is expected to foster a supportive educational environment that encourages student engagement and development. Responsibilities include designing and executing a variety of weekly classes that are developmentally suitable, drawing from personal interests and expertise. The role requires commitment throughout the academic year, offering flexibility of 10-25 hours weekly.

Essential Qualifications:

Program Development
  • Oversee the supervision of children, including the planning, preparation, and execution of developmental activities for students in grades K-5.
  • Develop instructional materials and curricula that acknowledge the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the participants.
  • Set and communicate clear objectives for all educational activities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and manage children in both structured and unstructured settings.
Student Engagement
  • Provide individualized tutoring to students in specific subjects and general academic support.
  • Be attentive to children's needs to encourage growth and stimulate curiosity.
  • Effectively manage student behavior in the learning environment, implementing approved disciplinary measures when necessary.
Professional Growth
  • Stay informed about current educational trends and topics.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training related to Jewish holidays.
General Responsibilities
  • Serve as a positive role model for both children and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the overall development of the program; align with the objectives of the JCC Association.
  • Ensure organization and cleanliness during program activities; assist in maintaining all afterschool areas in good order.
  • Communicate with the administrative team regarding supply needs.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Assist with daily student pickups.
  • Consistent attendance is essential as this role is crucial to the success of the afterschool program.
  • Maintain professionalism by refraining from personal phone use during work hours (except in emergencies).
  • Demonstrate commitment to the mission of the JCC Association and a willingness to learn about Jewish community values and traditions.
  • Uphold principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
  • Commit to anti-bias educational practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with children in grades K-5 and the ability to plan suitable activities for various age groups.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and develop effective plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Proficient in leading a classroom of children.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Capability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to sit on the floor and chairs, and to rise quickly as needed.
  • Ability to bend to assist children.
  • Ability to navigate confined spaces to support children with their needs.
  • Ability to respond promptly to the needs of young children.
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to work a full shift; availability required Monday through Friday afternoons and Wednesdays.
The compensation for this position begins at $20.91 per hour, with excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick leave, and holidays. This position is part of a union.
