ROLE SUMMARY
The After School Educator will work closely with the Site Coordinator and play a vital role in the success of our after school programs. This position requires the ability to foster a supportive learning atmosphere where children can thrive. The educator will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that align with their unique skills and interests. This role typically involves working approximately 20-25 hours each week during the academic year.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee children, including the planning and execution of developmental activities for transitional kindergarten students.
  • Develop instructional materials and curriculum that reflect the diverse backgrounds of the children.
  • Set clear objectives for all educational activities.
  • Lead and supervise children in both structured and unstructured settings.
  • Monitor and assess student performance.

Safety and Environment

  • Ensure a well-organized, safe, and healthy environment for all children.
  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times.
  • Keep the classroom clean and organized.

Student Engagement

  • Provide individual tutoring support in various subjects and general schoolwork.
  • Be attentive to children's needs to encourage their growth and curiosity.
  • Manage classroom behavior using approved disciplinary methods.
  • Facilitate communication with parents as needed.

Professional Development

  • Stay informed about current educational trends and topics.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities.

General Expectations

  • Serve as a positive role model for children and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the overall development of the program.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness during programming.
  • Communicate supply needs to the administrative team.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Assist with student pick-up as required.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance, as this role is essential to the program's success.
  • Adhere to policies regarding personal device usage during work hours.
  • Commit to the mission of ElevatEd and engage with our community values.
  • Support anti-bias education initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare or a related field, with a preference for preschool or transitional kindergarten.
  • At least 48 college credits required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Education or a related discipline preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage tasks and implement plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Experience leading a classroom of children.
  • Teamwork skills are essential.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Willingness to assist children with personal needs.
  • Responsive to the immediate needs of young children.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday during designated hours.
