Position Title: After School Educator - Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten

ROLE SUMMARY
The After School Educator will report to the Site Coordinator and play a vital role in the effectiveness of ElevatEd's after school initiatives. The educator will be responsible for cultivating a nurturing educational atmosphere that promotes student learning and development. This role involves designing and executing engaging, age-appropriate lessons based on the educator's unique skills and interests, working approximately 20-25 hours per week.


Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Planning:
    • Oversee children, including the planning and execution of developmental activities for transitional kindergarten students.
    • Develop instructional materials and curricula that reflect the diverse backgrounds of the children.
    • Set clear objectives for all educational activities.
    • Lead and supervise children in both structured and unstructured settings.
    • Monitor and assess student progress.
  • Classroom Safety:
    • Ensure a well-organized, safe, and healthy environment for all children.
    • Maintain appropriate adult-to-child ratios at all times.
    • Keep the classroom clean and organized.
  • Student Support:
    • Provide individualized tutoring and support in various subjects.
    • Be attentive to children's needs to encourage their growth and curiosity.
    • Manage classroom behavior using approved methods.
    • Facilitate communication with parents as needed.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay informed about current educational practices.
    • Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • General Duties:
    • Serve as a positive role model for students and colleagues.
    • Contribute to the overall development of the program.
    • Maintain organization and cleanliness during activities.
    • Communicate supply needs to the administrative team.
    • Participate in regular staff meetings.
    • Assist with student pick-up as required.
    • Demonstrate consistent attendance and commitment to the role.
    • Adhere to professional conduct standards.
    • Support the mission of ElevatEd and engage with community values.
    • Commit to inclusive education practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare or related fields, with a preference for preschool or transitional kindergarten.
  • At least 48 college credits are required.
  • A degree in Education or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks and implement plans effectively.
  • Capability to lead a classroom environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to engage in physical activities with children.
  • Ability to respond promptly to the needs of young children.
  • Availability to work during specified hours.
