POSITION SUMMARY
The Afterschool Inclusion Specialist is a crucial member of our educational team, reporting directly to the Program Directors. This role focuses on supporting students with diverse needs, particularly those on the Autism Spectrum, within our afterschool initiatives. The Inclusion Specialist is responsible for cultivating a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere for both students requiring additional assistance and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Duties:
Collaborate with the Program Director to develop tailored support tools for students facing behavioral and emotional challenges. Create individualized plans that outline daily objectives and coordinate with families to establish consistent reward systems. - Student Support:
Assist in managing the emotional and behavioral needs of students requiring extra support. Work closely with educators to facilitate conflict resolution and develop strategies that promote inclusion and engagement for all students. - Communication:
Provide essential training to staff about Autism Spectrum awareness and share updates regarding student progress with teachers and families. Maintain open lines of communication with school inclusion coordinators to ensure seamless transitions between school and afterschool programs. - General Responsibilities:
Serve as a positive role model for students and colleagues. Commit to fostering an inclusive environment, manage multiple projects effectively, and participate in regular team meetings. Uphold a commitment to equity and inclusion within the educational framework.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-2 years of experience working with children with special needs.
- Experience in educational settings, particularly with grades K-5.
- Relevant training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or Special Education.
- A degree in Special Education or a related field is preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Physical capability to assist children as needed.
- Consistent availability during afterschool hours.
The compensation for this role ranges from $26 to $29 per hour, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package. ElevatEd is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
