About the Role

The Life Skills Coach is a vital member of our team at College Internship Program Inc, responsible for assisting students in developing independent living skills and routines to ensure their success after completing our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Students in Building Independent Living Skills: Provide guidance and support to students in developing essential life skills, enabling them to live independently and confidently.
  • Engage Students in Community Activities: Facilitate opportunities for students to explore and connect with their community, promoting socialization and personal growth.
  • Maintain a Safe and Healthy Environment: Ensure the well-being of students by promoting a safe and healthy living environment and community.
  • Conduct Executive Functioning Appointments: Work closely with students to identify and address executive functioning challenges, providing tailored support and strategies for success.
  • Support Students in Handling Challenges: Utilize de-escalation techniques and other strategies to help students manage difficulties and achieve their goals.
  • Collaborate with Staff and Families: Work closely with staff and families to ensure a comprehensive support system for students, promoting open communication and collaboration.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Exceptional Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Attention to Detail and Organization: Demonstrate attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Empathy and Cultural Competence: Possess genuine empathy and cultural competence, with the ability to understand and respect the diverse needs and backgrounds of students and families.
  • Experience in Crisis Management and Independent Living Skills: Have experience in crisis management and independent living skills, with a strong understanding of the needs and challenges of students with learning disabilities.
  • Education and Certifications: Hold an Associate's degree (or be in pursuit of) from an accredited institution in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Active Driver's License and Proficiency in Office Software: Possess an active driver's license and proficiency in office utility computer software programs.
