The JCC Association serves as a nurturing environment for individuals across various age groups and life stages. POSITION OVERVIEW
The After School Program Educator will report to the After School Leadership Team and play a vital role in the effectiveness of the JCC Association's After School Program. This individual must foster a constructive educational atmosphere where students can thrive. Responsibilities include designing and executing a variety of weekly age-appropriate classes that align with their unique skills and interests. The role requires commitment throughout the academic year, with flexible hours available.
Classroom Oversight, Student Engagement, and Age-Appropriate Learning
- Oversee children, including the planning, preparation, and execution of age-appropriate programming (both structured and unstructured) for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
- Act with mindfulness and a strong awareness of children's needs to safely promote development and stimulate curiosity.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by implementing approved disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Serve as a positive and suitable role model for children and fellow staff members.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness during programming; assist in keeping all afterschool environments orderly and functional.
- Regular attendance as an afterschool staff member is essential, as this role is crucial to the success of the afterschool program.
- Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, as well as anti-bias education.
- Experience working with children in grades TK-5 and the ability to plan suitable activities for varying age groups.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Capability to organize tasks and develop and implement strategies to effectively achieve organizational objectives.
- Ability to lead a classroom of children.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a team.
- Physical ability to engage actively with children.
- Consistent attendance and availability to work a full shift; must be available Monday through Friday during designated hours.
