Job Overview
This position is part of the Commercial Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Mechanical Design team within GE Aviation's Engineering Division.

The team is tasked with the design and advancement of CMC components utilized in the High-Pressure Turbine (HPT) and Combustor Module of leading commercial turbofan engines.

As a Senior Engineer, you will take on a pivotal role in guiding and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing durability and fleet performance for CMC HPT components.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an individual contributor, driving design and manufacturing modifications to fulfill program specifications.
- Collaborate with diverse teams, including mechanical design, materials engineering, data science, manufacturing, quality assurance, and program management.
- Implement insights gained from previous programs and fleet data into subsequent component designs.

Additional responsibilities may encompass:
- Supporting component delivery initiatives.
- Assisting with engine test assemblies.
- Enhancing component manufacturability through design and production adjustments.

Your technical acumen will be vital in refining existing processes and designs, while also providing guidance to early-career engineers in both engineering and manufacturing disciplines.

This role offers a significant degree of autonomy, necessitating ownership of work quality and active participation in prioritizing tasks.

While executing your responsibilities, it is essential to evaluate your capabilities and seek advice from supervisors and technical mentors when needed.

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related STEM field from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience; or an advanced degree in the same fields with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with experience in guiding small teams.
- Excellent communication and technical documentation abilities.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously with demonstrated project management skills.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with a focus on making informed, risk-based decisions.
- Experience mentoring others in tackling complex challenges.
- Familiarity with hardware ownership, jet engines, hot section design, and combustor design.

Proficiency in CAD software (such as Unigraphics NX), GD&T, and assembly stack-ups is advantageous, along with prior involvement in RCCAs/TOPS8Ds and composite design or manufacturing experience.

This role necessitates access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final offers will be contingent upon the ability to obtain authorization for access to such information from the U.S. Government.
