Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Research Vivarium Husbandry Animal Care Technician II to join our Insourcing Solutions Department.

Key Responsibilities

As an Animal Care Technician II, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring, observing, and documenting the health and environmental conditions within the animal facility.
  • Performing essential animal care and husbandry tasks.
  • Reviewing and adhering to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance protocols related to laboratory animals.
  • Maintaining precise records of animal breeding, health, and housing as required.
  • Conducting health assessments and husbandry duties to ensure the well-being of research animals.
  • Assisting with the handling and restraint of various animal species as directed.
  • Executing humane euthanasia when necessary.
  • Receiving and inspecting incoming animals, ensuring proper care for sentinel animals in rodent housing areas.
  • Following strict breeding and weaning protocols to maintain production levels.
  • Operating equipment and utilizing supplies in accordance with safety guidelines, while performing general housekeeping duties.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science, Biology, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant laboratory animal experience in a facility.
  • AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level (ALAT) is expected within 18 months of hire.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $27.00. Please note that compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Vaccine Requirement

This role requires compliance with client mandates for COVID-19 vaccination. Proof of vaccination will be required for all employees working with clients who have such requirements.
