Internal Title: Research Scientist I/II - Lab Technician

About the Role:

The Oncology Pharmacology team at Novartis is in search of a research associate skilled in in vivo methodologies with rodent models. The ideal candidate will contribute to the advancement and evaluation of innovative therapeutics and targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a variety of in vivo procedures in rodents (primarily mice), including dosing (IV, IP, SQ, PO), body weight assessments, clinical observations, sample and tissue collection, necropsy, and blood sampling (cardiac, tail vein, saphenous), while strictly following all standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and animal welfare regulations.
  • Support in vivo pharmacology pre-study laboratory tasks and related ex vivo activities as required (preparing and labeling materials, managing reagent inventories, processing samples, etc.).
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring data integrity and adherence to timelines.
  • Maintain a safe laboratory environment and comply with applicable safety regulations in a BSL 1 and/or 2 setting.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external regulatory agencies in accordance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

Compensation and Benefits:

The compensation range for this position is competitive and varies based on experience and qualifications. Additional elements of the total compensation package may include bonuses, stock options, and a comprehensive benefits program.

Essential Qualifications:

  • This is a dual posting. The final level and title will be determined by the hiring team based on the candidate's skills and experience.
  • Research Scientist I - Lab Technician: High School diploma with a 2-year degree in Veterinary Technology or a 4-year Science degree with relevant experience preferred. Proficiency in in vivo techniques with rodents is required.
  • Research Scientist II - Lab Technician: High School diploma with a 2-year degree in Veterinary Technology or a 4-year Science degree with 3+ years of relevant experience preferred. Advanced proficiency in in vivo techniques with rodents is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, manage multiple tasks, and maintain organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to task completion.
  • Knowledge of Federal, state, and local Animal Welfare regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical capability to perform in vivo procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with cancer models and in vivo pharmacokinetic evaluations is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a Contract Research Organization (CRO) is a plus.
