Position Overview

The role entails providing both direct and indirect oversight to team leaders and professional staff engaged in various functions. This includes the formulation of strategic plans spanning three to five years and the establishment of policies for the unit. The individual will be accountable for departmental outcomes and for initiatives involving cross-functional teams. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of professional standards and precedents within the area of expertise. Assignments are received in the form of objectives, and the individual is expected to set goals to meet these objectives. The role also involves recommending policy modifications and contributing to the development of departmental budgets and objectives. Mistakes or failure to meet targets may lead to increased costs and delays in project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement site revenue and inventory management processes, including forecasting, analysis, reporting, and action plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce inventory costs while ensuring effective management reporting.
  • Oversee site purchasing activities, ensuring customer commitments are met, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining quality and delivery standards.
  • Manage warehouse operations and material handling for all business units, ensuring security and efficiency.
  • Lead the import logistics team, including carrier contract negotiations and customs clearance processes.
  • Foster relationships with external carriers, customs brokers, and third-party warehouses, focusing on quality, cost negotiation, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all customs regulations and laws.
  • Collaborate on global customs and traffic issues, identifying and implementing cost-saving measures across sites.
  • Oversee case, pack, and shipping operations, ensuring compliance with export customs regulations.
  • Manage the Celestica HUB export process.
  • Guide the design, development, integration, and maintenance of supply chain management systems and training.
  • Provide direction to business units to achieve financial results related to inventory.
  • Oversee annual physical inventory and manage surplus/excess sales and scrap material disposition.
  • Supervise several departments, including Material Master, Dock Operations, Traffic, Distribution, and Warehouse.
  • May include responsibilities for Inside Sales, focusing on customer service and order management.
  • Responsible for employee training, performance evaluation, development, motivation, and recognition.
  • Promote continuous improvement within the supply chain management function through collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of supply chain management, distribution methods, and global transportation services.
  • Strong understanding of the global business environment and customer operations.
  • Familiarity with IT concepts and integrated business applications.
  • Expertise in import/export regulations and logistics management.
  • Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Capability to lead, manage, train, and motivate a diverse workforce.

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily conducted in a standard office setting.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and focused visual concentration on computer screens and detailed data.
  • Frequent repetitive manual tasks, such as data entry, are expected.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires seven to ten years of relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Materials Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Educational requirements may vary by region.
